Research topic: Numerical modelling of topology changes in two-phase flows with front tracking

Front tracking algorithms use Lagrangian markers to represent the interface between two fluids, offering enhanced accuracy in computing geometrical properties such as curvature and normal vectors. A drawback of this approach is the need to explicitly handle topology changes.  Gabriele's research focuses on the development and implementation of state-of-the-art numerical methods to simulate droplet and bubble breakup/coalescence using front tracking, paving the way for improved physics-based modelling of interfacial flows undergoing topology changes
