Research Topic: A Multi-Scale Understanding of Pyrolysis of Plastics.
Dasun's project involves developing numerical models to describe the complex physical and chemical phenomena in plastic pyrolysis, spanning from the molecular to the reactor scale. By modeling processes such as solid/gas chemistry, geometrical changes of particles, and particle-particle, particle-gas interactions, the research aims to understand their impact on reactor performance. The goal is to identify optimal operating conditions, enhance the overall efficiency of plastic pyrolysis processes, and, thereby, improve its viability as a post-treatment method for waste plastics.
